What exactly is electronic invoicing?

As a reminder, an electronic invoice isn’t the same thing as a digital invoice. A PDF invoice is a digital invoice, but it is not considered an electronic invoice.

Electronic invoices, or e-invoices, are XML files that are transferred in UBL format via the Peppol network. These UBL standards ensure that all the required information is included on the invoice and that it can be read by accounting or invoicing software.

These software programs can automatically create, receive, and even process electronic invoices. It’s even possible to authorise them to pay invoices automatically.

How do I sign up for Peppol?

To activate electronic invoicing via Peppol with Proximus or another telecom operator, you need to be using invoicing or accounting software. Then, you just have to sign up for Peppol. Registration is simple and free.

Follow these steps to register via Accountable:

  1. Log in via the website or app.

Other telecom operators, such as Digi, Mobile Vikings and EDPnet, don’t offer electronic invoicing yet.

We’re keeping a close eye on the situation, but don’t hesitate to contact the relevant customer service yourself to ask if it’s possible to change your billing method.
